It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved employee, Darrel Taylor, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Surrounded by his loved ones, Darrel bid farewell after spending several decades dedicated to McCallum Testing Laboratories. His journey with us began as a shop mechanic, and through his hard work and dedication, he rose to the role of drilling supervisor. Darrel’s impact on our organization and the lives of those he worked with will be deeply felt and remembered.
Beyond his professional contributions, Darrel was cherished for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family. With a big heart and a love that knew no bounds, Darrel leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. His family held a special place in his heart, and he was known for his willingness to go above and beyond for them. From attending sporting events with his children to offering his mechanical expertise whenever needed, Darrel’s presence brought joy and comfort to those around him.
Outside of work and family, Darrel was an active member of his church community, where he found solace and strength among his church family. His commitment to his faith and his willingness to lend a helping hand endeared him to all who knew him.
To honor and celebrate Darrel’s life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16th from 10 am – 11 am, at Thrive Church, located at 5555 Portsmouth Boulevard, Portsmouth, VA 23701. This service will be a time for us to come together, share memories, and pay tribute to a remarkable individual whose presence will be greatly missed.
As we mourn the loss of Darrel Taylor, let us also celebrate the countless moments of joy, laughter, and kindness he brought into our lives. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit and the memories we shared will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear friend and colleague. You will be deeply missed.
